Domains: connect or buy an address in your name
Give your app an address like myapp.com: connect a domain you already own, or buy one through Makasi. Included in paid plans; your free Makasi address stays active.
1. Before you start
Custom domains are part of the paid plans (see the pricing page). On the free plan, your app keeps its free Makasi address.
An app carries a single custom domain. A domain belongs to your account: you can detach it from one app and attach it to another.
The domain serves the live version of your app — the one you published.
In your project: Manage › Domains. All your domains are also listed in Domains and emails › Domains, in the menu on the left.
2. Connect a domain you own
- Manage › Domains → “Add a domain” → “Connect a domain”.
- Enter the domain itself (example.com) or a subdomain (app.example.com).
- Makasi shows the exact DNS records to add: one proves the domain is yours, the other points it to your app. Add them in the DNS settings of your domain provider (where you bought it) — copy buttons give you each name and value.
- Click “Check now”. A new record can take a few minutes, sometimes a few hours, to become visible. If it is not seen yet, the domain waits for you: come back later with “Finish setup”.
- Once ownership is verified, the security certificate (HTTPS) is prepared automatically, and your app answers on your domain within minutes.
If your provider has no ALIAS record type, choose ANAME, or CNAME at the root. Keep the default duration (TTL).
3. Buy a domain
- Manage › Domains → “Add a domain” → “Buy a domain”.
- Search for a name: Makasi tells you whether it is available and its price for one year (taxes calculated at payment).
- Check the summary, then pay by card or with mobile money.
- Makasi registers the domain and sets up everything (DNS and certificate): nothing to configure on your side. It usually takes a minute or two after the payment is confirmed.
4. If registration fails
A domain is only registered after your payment. If the registration fails after your payment, your order stays “Awaiting activation” and an email confirms we received it: there is nothing for you to do, we retry automatically.
If the domain still cannot be activated at the end of the planned delay, your payment is refunded in full, automatically, to the payment method you used; an email confirms it and a notification appears in your dashboard. You can then choose another name.
5. Renewal
A domain bought through Makasi renews every year. The renewal price is recalculated each year and shown to you before payment.
Automatic renewal is on by default: if a card is saved, it is charged a few days before the expiry date. Without a card — for example if you pay with mobile money — or if the payment fails, you receive email reminders with a payment link (card or mobile money).
You can also renew from the domain’s setup (“Renew now”); just after a purchase or a renewal, it shows the date from which renewing is possible. You can also turn automatic renewal off.
Without payment, the domain is not renewed and expires; you are warned by email.
A domain you connected stays managed and renewed at your own provider.
6. Remove or move a domain
Removing a domain from an app: the app is no longer reachable at that address. A domain you bought stays in your account (Domains and emails › Domains) with its renewal, and you can attach it to another app. A domain you connected can be connected again later.
Removing a bought domain from your account: Makasi stops serving it and will no longer renew it.
If you go back to the free plan, your domains are paused; they come back if you return to a paid plan, with nothing to buy or verify again.
