Payments in your app: card and mobile money
Let your customers pay by card (Stripe) or with mobile money (pawaPay). It works like any other service: ask in the chat, paste your keys, test, then switch to production.
1. Ask for it
Say what you sell and how people should pay: “card payments with Stripe”, “mobile money in Senegal and Cameroon”… Makasi provides the online payment: the assistant connects it to your app, and the keys it needs appear in Manage › Integrations.
Payments need a secret key, so they run server-side code: they are available on paid plans.
2. How a payment is confirmed
Makasi provides the payment itself: the provider’s payment page, the Pay button and the page your customer comes back to. The amount always comes from your app’s database, never from the customer’s browser.
When the customer comes back from paying, your app checks the payment with the provider before showing it as paid: a web address alone is never proof of payment. The return page then shows “Payment received” (with the payment reference), “Payment pending” (for mobile money, the customer confirms on the phone; the page updates by itself) or that the payment did not go through (with a way to try again).
The provider’s notification (callback) is only a signal: the payment is always checked with the provider before it is recorded. For Stripe, the signing secret is optional; once it is filled in, your app refuses any notification Stripe did not sign.
3. If the customer closes the page
A payment is not lost when the customer closes the page before coming back: Makasi regularly checks pending payments with the provider and marks the item as paid. On the return page, a payment still pending also has a “Check payment” button.
In your app’s admin, the list of what your customers pay shows whether each item is paid.
4. Test, then production
- Paste the provider’s test keys (Stripe test mode, pawaPay sandbox) and try a full purchase.
- Copy the callback address shown in Manage › Integrations into the provider’s dashboard.
- When everything works, replace the test keys with the production keys. For mobile money, also switch “Mode” from Test to Production in Manage › Integrations › Mobile money.
- Publish: Makasi reminds you to check that your keys are production values.
For payments to be confirmed at any time, your app must be published on a paid plan.
